Combating deforestation and climate change through strategic afforestation and forest restoration

Trees: The Lifeline of Earth

From the beginning of time, trees have played a crucial role in the lifeline of Planet Earth. These ancestral giants supply us with oxygen, filter toxic gases, provide homes to countless species, and enhance Mother Nature's elegant beauty.

However, these treasure troves are under attack, being demolished at an alarming rate. Between 1990 and 2010, Sri Lanka lost 20.9% of her forest coverage due to agriculture, urbanization, and commercial motives.

Reforestation and Forest Conservation

Climate Change Crisis

Deforestation leads to climate change - a radical crisis causing melting glaciers and extreme weather conditions globally

Ecosystem Destruction

Canopy Layer

Fascinating canopies teeming with life, home to species that are difficult to reach by human ways. Microclimates within canopies hold diverse life forms.

Species at Risk:

Blue Magpies
Hill Mynas
Purple-faced Leaf Monkeys

Understory

The layer beneath the canopy hosts a different community of wildlife, each adapted to the unique conditions of this forest level.

Species at Risk:

Various Bird Species
Small Mammals
Reptiles

Forest Floor

The ground level accommodates an entirely different crowd of creatures, from the smallest insects to the largest mammals.

Species at Risk:

Millipedes
Elephants
Ground-dwelling Species

LLLF's Afforestation Mission

LLLF commits mainly to afforestation - planting trees in barren land to create forests. We will work with the Forest Department of Sri Lanka and other authorities to achieve this vital goal.

Our Approach

Coaching locals to establish plant nurseries

Sprouting seeds into saplings for afforestation

Collaborating with Forest Department of Sri Lanka

Working with government authorities and experts

Creating sustainable forest restoration programs

Why Afforestation?

While the world fights to prevent forest clearance, measures haven't been as successful due to loopholes in law enforcement and lack of complete political influence.

Afforestation allows us to create new forests in barren lands, directly increasing forest coverage and providing immediate environmental benefits.

Plant the Seed of Change

Help the Foundation be well-equipped to plant the ideal seed of change that Mother Nature desperately needs. Together, we can restore our forests and combat climate change.
